THE BLUE BOWL

This historic pub dates from the 17th century and there may have been a drinking place on the site since Roman times (almost certainly before 1400 AD). It lies on the Roman road known as the Julian Way.

In the late 18th and early 19th centuries it was reputedly a place where the notorious Cock Road gang hung out.

The Blue Bowl is now more of a restaurant than a pub though.
